Peggy Sands
Artist, Teacher, Designer

Peggy Sands is an award winning professional artist and a meditator of over 40 years. After graduating Rhode Island School of Design, Sands spent 11 years at Osho Commune International, where she meditated daily and dove into personal growth work. After the death of Osho she moved to Italy, painting and selling her work in Europe for 14 years. On returning to the US she was invited to be one of the core teachers at the Sedona Arts Center; continuing to paint and lead workshops around the country.

While in Sedona Sands created a new way of working with acrylics to create permanent, large scale paintings done in a ‘watercolor style’. She subsequently received a Professional Artists Grant from the City of Sedona to further develop the technique. This has been her artistic focus for the past 10 years.

These days Sands calls Boulder home. She paints, teaches, freelances as a graphic designer and illustrator and makes artists books. She is a published children’s book author / illustrator and her murals appear in public buildings in Sedona and Boulder. Sands has juried art shows, painted commissions, received grants and won awards. Her work has appeared in national and international publications (including ‘Seventeen Magazine’ and ‘International Artist’), on TV (a 12’ x 4’ triptych mural on HGTV’s ‘Landscaper’s Challenge’), in numerous online publications, and can be found in private and corporate collections in Europe, America and around the world.

When not doing all that, she rides her bike all over Boulder, plays in her garden, hikes in the glorious Rocky Mountains and meditates.

“Meditation and beauty are inextricably intertwined in my world. When I am touched by beauty I fall into silence, everything stops …light, color, silence, stillness…
I try to express this in my work.”

And for those of you who need to see a person’s credentials…
